Biography

Douglas Spain captured critical praise and a 1998 Independent Spirit Award nomination for his feature film debut in Fox Searchlight's STAR MAPS. The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, tells the dark-humored story of 'Carlos' (Spain), whose dreams of acting leads him to sell star maps as well as himself on the streets of Hollywood.

Spain is recognized for his portrayal of the WWII Vet Pvt. Tony Garcia in the Emmy and Golden Globe winning HBO miniseries BAND OF BROTHERS, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Additional credits include WALKOUT directed by Edward James Olmos, 12 ANGRY MEN directed by William Friedkin, DELIVERING MILO with Anton Yelchin and Albert Finney, CHERRY FALLS with Brittany Murphy and Jay Mohr, WHAT’S COOKING with Mercedes Ruehl and Alfre Woodard, THE READING ROOM opposite James Earl Jones, PERMANENT MIDNIGHT alongside Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, BUT I’M A CHEERLEADER with Natasha Lyonne, RICOCHET RIVER with Kate Hudson, and CHRISTMAS BREAK-IN opposite Danny Glover.

Spain produced the Lionsgate film LINE OF DUTY starring Joseph Julian Soria as well as BADSVILLE, the film the LA Times called “Powerful.”

Spain currently resides in Los Angeles.
