Biography

Douglas Spain captured critical praise and a 1998 Independent Spirit Award nomination for his feature film debut in Fox Searchlight's STAR MAPS. The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, tells the dark-humored story of 'Carlos' (Spain), whose dreams of acting leads him to sell star maps as well as himself on the streets of Hollywood.

Spain is recognized for his portrayal of Pvt. Tony Garcia, a WWII Veteran in the Emmy and Golden Globe winning HBO mini-series BAND OF BROTHERS, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Additional credits include WALKOUT directed by Edward James Olmos, 12 ANGRY MEN directed by William Friedkin, DELIVERING MILO with Anton Yelchin and Albert Finney, opposite James Earl Jones in THE READING ROOM, starring with Kate Hudson in RICOCHET RIVER, with Brittany Murphy in CHERRY FALLS, with Mercedes Ruehl and Alfre Woodard in WHAT’S COOKING, alongside Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in PERMANENT MIDNIGHT, starring with Danny Glover in CHRISTMAS BREAK-IN, and opposite Natasha Lyonne and Melanie Lynskey in BUT I’M A CHEERLEADER.

Spain produced the Lionsgate film LINE OF DUTY starring Sean Patrick Flanery as well as BADSVILLE, the film the LA Times called “Powerful.”
